PSN Monthly Meeting May 19 - 7PM

Coal & gas mining – a threat to the future of our food

David Burgess from the Total Environment Centre, a member of the Our Land, Our Water, Our Future alliance, will be speaking on the threats of coal & gas mining at the May gathering of Permaculture Sydney North (PSN) at the Lindfield Community Centre, on Monday 19th May 2014 at 7pm. All welcome!

Coal and gas mining threaten – and destroy – the things we can't live without: our clean water, our best farmland, our wild places, and our health. The big coal and gas companies have too much political influence and the regulatory system has failed. Mining licences and applications cover about 80% of our state.

We need people power – a campaign that unites individuals and groups from the city and country to generate the pressure necessary to overcome the undue influence of the international mining industry, and motivate our political leaders to change the law.

The Our Land, Our Water, Our Future campaign comes from an appreciation of the old saying, “united we stand, divided we fall". It has been created to build a common voice for the countless communities that are standing up to protect the places they love. By joining together we can build a movement that is greater than the sum of its parts and can change the rules that govern mining in NSW.

Come and hear why PSN has been invited to join the Our Land, Our Water, Our Future alliance, on Monday 19th May at 7pm (supper at 8:30pm) at the Lindfield Community Centre, 259 Pacific Highway, Lindfield.

$5 non-members. Free for PSN members. Doors open at 6.30pm – library, reuse roundabout, produce swaps. Please join us for supper afterwards and bring a mug for tea.
