Living Skills Workshop:
Building a Maggot Farm
Nov 15th,
 Denistone

Learn how to build a Maggot Farm, which will convert your kitchen scraps into a great protein food for your chickens.

Do you know that Black Soldier Fly (BSF) maggots are very efficient composters? They are also high protein food for chickens, aquarium fish and reptiles. We will build a container farm which you can hang or place near your chicken coop for the birds to eat maggots which fall from the farm exit ramp.

You will need to bring some materials - a plastic bucket or a barrel (20 - 50 litres) with a lid and offcuts of polypipes (a list will be supplied to the participants via email).

This workshop will be conducted by a few members of PSN in a private garden.

What to bring:
  • a plastic bucket or a barrel (20 - 50 litres) with a lid
  • offcuts of 50-100 mm wide polypipe as long as the bucket is deep
