PSN Open Garden - Gladesville

Sunday 26 August, 2012 - 2pm to 4pm

Starting in August 2012, PSN will be organising open permaculture garden days for members to visit, enjoy and benefit from the exchange of information and knowledge of other permies. The open garden visits will take place on the 4th Sunday of the month.

Our Garden Team leader, Deb will be the first to open her garden on Sunday 26 August from 2pm to 4pm. Deb’s garden featured in Geoff Lawton’s DVD on Urban Permaculture. This is a great example of permaculture design, incorporating: solar; water harvesting with swales/paths on contour and a grey water reed filtration system; animal systems – chooks and native bees; productive vegetable /herbs beds with flowers attracting beneficial insects; and aquaponics – growing rainbow trout to eat and provide nutrients for a productive kitchen garden in Zone 1.

Deb will conduct a tour of her garden, providing short talks about her design, aquaponics, native bees, chooks, and espalier training of apple trees.

Please register on our website or email opengarden_coord@permaculturenorth.org.au if you would like to attend. The address will be provided on registration. If you would like to bring along family or friends who are not members, a small $5 donation can be made to PSN on the day.

WHAT TO BRING...

If you would like to stay and have a cup of tea and a chat after the tour, please bring along a mug.
