Deep Ecology is a philosophy of nature which sees that underlying the environmental crisis is the separation between humans and the rest of the natural world.

The late Arne Naess, Emeritus Professor of Philosophy from Oslo University, Norway who coined the term "deep ecology" pointed out that our "ecological ideas are not enough to protect the Earth, we need ecological identity, ecological self".

Dear All
You are invited to a Deep Ecology Workshop to be held in Narrabeen on Saturday and Sunday June 8-9, 2013.

This workshop focuses on empowering activists who are feeling tired, needing new direction, feeling burnt out or wanting some inspiration.  The aim is to leave the workshop with a sense of renewal, passion, and energy.

A tremendous sense of community is also built up over the weekend workshop. People from different walks of life, working across different issues and interests, get to meet and form a community/network together. We look at vision and reconnecting and what is important to ourselves, each other, the survival of the planet and how they are inextricably linked.

In this workshop we utilize of wide variety of techniques using personal sharing, experiential deep ecology, and practical exercises, we work to resolve the separation people are often feeling between people and our natural environment.

Facilitators are John Seed and Michelle Sheather.  Both have each worked for over thirty years on ecological issues in Australia and around the world. John,OAM started the Rainforest Information Center and Michelle was the first Campaigns Director for Greenpeace International and also for Greenpeace Australia. Both are also permaculturists, Michelle being active in Permaculture Northern Beaches committee.
