March permabee Sunday 30th
Grey water Reed bed installation+
At this months permabee we will be installing a compact little grey water system at Chris & Kath’s home in Westleigh, along with some revamping of swales and planting out new seedlings in the veg beds.
Due to some preparation work needed for the reed beds the permabee will be on Sundaythe 30th from 9.30am – 4.00 pm.
This should be an informative perabee for any of us thinking of installing a grey water system for our own homes and an inspiration for anyone who hasn’t seen Kath & Chris’s fantastic “hanging gardens”.
Space is a bit limited in the garden so we will need to split up into two or three teems so we don't trip over each other. The jobs will include setting up the bathtubs for the reed beds along with some plumbing and a bit of paving work.
Learning how to use an A frame and a water level as we re-establish the swales in the front garden and plant them out with new plants, and finally prepare and plant out the veg beds that have the best bush views!
As always we need to pay attention to OH&S so bring a hat, gloves, work boots, sunscreen, and your favourite gardening tools.
If you are a bit unsteady on your feet or don't like heights we may keep you in the front garden where the ground is less challenging but.
Other than that there will be something for everyone in an attractive location. So I hope you can make it, don't forget to register so we know how many to cater for and for those of you that haven’t been to a permabee yet this would be a great place to start.
