Cecilia’s April permabee.

Sunday 27th

Hi perma folks

Cath & Chris’s permabee in March went off without a hitch. We enjoyed perfect weather, lovely surroundings, fantastic food and even better company, and we managed to get some work dun too. At the end of the day the mulch swales were in, both bathtubs for the grey water system were installed with most of the plumbing in place, the various garden beds had all been planted out with seedlings and Kath demonstrated how to mix up our own potting mix.

This month’s permabee will be taking place at Cecilia’s in Carlingford and due to Easter coincides with the scheduled date for the permabee, we will be holding the permabee on Sunday the 27th.

We might squeeze in a game of two up at lunchtime, but before we do that there are a few jobs to be dun that will need a bit of coordination between the teams.

The main job will be to install a mulched path that will also serve to divert runoff water into some garden beds and a swale. The soil dug out from the path will be used to create an earth bund along a section of the back fence after we rescue the Iris that are there at the moment.

Another job for two or three people will be setting up a small pond with solar pump.

Other projects people can do include constructing “worm tubes” to go into the veggie patch, potting up excess raspberries for giveaway’s, feeding the veggies with fresh worm castings & worm wee, putting together a vertical polypipe garden, planting out seedlings for the quick pick garden, help organize some garden signage for International Permaculture Day, and one lucky volunteer can take charge of the kitchen.

So as you can see there are plenty of jobs, big and small for young and old and some good learning opportunities for you to take away and apply to your own garden. So if you can spear the time I’m sure we can find a job for you.

Looking forward to seeing you there.

Best regards

Peter.
