Super Adobe Dome Building Workshop
Come along for an amazing week of hands-on building and learn to build your own dome home from the ground up with Curvatecture. This is a skill anyone can pick up and Hayden is keen to spread the knowledge. This is an affordable, sustainable and achievable building technique that can be applied to a huge range of structures.
WHAT IS SUPER ADOBE? Superadobe is a term coined by Iranian architect Nadir Khalili. After a fruitful life as a commercial architect in the US he traded it all in for a chance to discover something simpler. He began experimenting with the earth below his feet on a property in the Californian High Desert. With the help of his architecture students and volunteers, he began to build odd structures amongst the Joshua trees…..Keep reading here: http://curvatecture.com/superadobe/
Traditionally, these buildings are created during Workshops, which are a meeting of wonderful people and energies all coming together to build something very special.
“Education is a huge driving force behind my love of this technology, and it is my life’s goal to spread this knowledge as far as possible.” Hayden Annable.
THE WORKSHOP: Learn all you will need to know to confidently head out into the world and build your own dome. This will be a hands-on experience and participants will be working together to complete the dome. Although this will be the central focus and goal of the week, plenty of time will be also be given for theory based learning for a better understanding of Super Adobe, as well as socialising and of course having heaps of fun.
THE PROJECT: Together we will be building an open air garden dome for the Wyong Neighbourhood Centre community garden. This will be a real feature to the garden and a space where workers can stop for a break, a chat, a cup of tea and relax. The exact design will be completed by Hayden Annable with input from the Wyong N.C team and presented to participants during the first workshop meeting.
