September permabee
Hi folks
On Saturday 20th of September we are off to help the queen bee Belinda Bean and her merry band of student volunteers get a start on the mandala garden at Macquarie’s sustainability house.
The design, constructed of timber & looking more like a five meeter wide flower will be a five bed, keyhole, no dig, crop rotation system that will have a later addition of a movable dome for quail that is placed over each “petal” in succession.
We will need some muscle on this one as the ground has some vary dense clay that we will need to dig post hols into.
For this reason if anyone has a spear spud bar or scissor shovel they could bring along,
it would be a big help. I have two spud bars but just one scissor shovel.
As always you will need to register on line to find out the address and get the map showing the way, as well as letting us know how many to feed.
So bring yourselves, a friend, your favourite gardening tools, a treat to share if you like and a sunny disposition.
Remember to dress for the weather and work (boots, hat, gloves, sun screen).
Look forward to catching up then.
Peter
