SUMMARY:PSN Monthly Meeting - Tips from the Troops + Crop Swap
LOCATION:Lindfield Community Hall\, 259 Pacific Highway\, Lindfield
DESCRIPTION:https://permaculturenorth.org.au/event-3048007\n\nTips from the Troops + Crop Swap\n Tips from the Troops - Getting a Good Yield from your Garden\n Do you dream about getting a great yield from your garden\, but often find yourself disappointed with how little you get to harvest after such a lot of work?\n Have you ever salivated in anticipation of enjoying the produce from your garden\, only to lose it at the last minute to local wildlife or other pests or disease?\nIn our September meeting\, a few PSN members will share tips of what they do to ensure a good crop of their most successful fruit or veggies. Some of the crops they’ll cover include potatoes\, garlic\, carrots\, beetroot\, artichokes\, citrus fruit and stone fruit. These tips will include:\n * How & when to prepare your garden for particular plants\n\n\n * How to ensure the most relevant plant growth (leaf\, root or fruit)\n\n\n * How to prevent specific pests and diseases\n\n\n * The best time to harvest the produce and the seeds\n\n\n * Plants to grow that possums and rats don’t like\n\n\n \n\n But wait\, there's more ...\n Crop Swap\n After the tips from our members\, we will celebrate the good fortune of those who manage to produce excess crops with an evening Crop Swap event. \n Bring along your homegrown produce\, seeds and edible plants to swap with others. And if you don’t yet have any of those\, feel free to bring any other home-made produce (such as bread\, jam or fermented foods) or garden-related items to swap. \n Free for members\, small donation for guests. \n\n Doors open at 6:30pm - a good time to check out our members' library & catch up with other PSN members. \n Please join us for supper after the talk.\n
