SUMMARY:PSN Monthly Meeting - Citizen Science: Dragons of Sydney
LOCATION:Lindfield Community Hall\, 259 Pacific Highway\, Lindfield
DESCRIPTION:https://permaculturenorth.org.au/event-3387206\n\nCitizen Science: Dragons of Sydney\n Steph Clark runs a variety of Citizen Science projects at the National Park Association of NSW. These projects blend environmental education with hands-on workshops and scientific surveys which train community members to collect date for research projects. The focus of these projects span from water dragons\, to native pollinators\, to identifying species that are hanging out on the properties of private landholders. \n In her talk she will be talking about the awesome potential of citizen science to teach people about the world around them\, connect community members to their local environment\, and collect important useful information. She will go into some very exciting results from the Dragons of Sydney project which uncovered the risky lives of water dragons who have taken to the city slicker life. Is their behaviour different to their friends who hang out in more natural environments? Where do they hang out in cities? What can you do to your backyard to make it a dragon oasis? All will be revealed...\n \n \n\n Free for members\, small donation for guests. \n Doors open at 6:30pm - a good time to check out our members' library & catch up with other PSN members. \n Please join us for supper after the talk.\n
