DESCRIPTION:https://permaculturenorth.org.au/event-3414115\n\n   \n\n    Ku-ring-gai Local group is inviting you to\n    A SOIL TESTING WORKSHOP\n       Everyone welcome \n    Saturday   15th June 2019         2.00pm to 4.30pm\n        * ·        Bring samples of your garden soil that you want to test\n\n          * ·        Bring your test kit if you have one (I have several that we can use.)\n\n          * ·        Bring your questions\, and your knowledge and experience of soil to share with the group\n\n    We will be looking at\n        * ·        Testing your soil for pH -too acid? too alkaline? or just right\, and how to change it\n\n          * ·        Why pH is important - Which plants like what?\n\n          * ·        Soil texture – sand – silt -  clay – loam etc\n\n          * ·        Why is soil texture important and how do we deal with it if our soil doesn't suit the plants we want to grow.\n\n          * ·        Mineral deficiency \n\n          * ·        Sometimes Sydney soils lack the minerals and chemicals to grow what we want\n\n          * ·        These deficiencies often show up in colours and patterns of leaves.\n\n          * ·        There are short term and long term solutions for mineral deficiencies. Plants that are dynamic lifters will often bring minerals to the surface where they can be used by shallow rooted fruit trees.\n\n    Please bring  soil from your own gardens to test the pH and examine  the texture. \n    Bring \n    ·        3 samples of soil from your garden or chosen plot\n        * ·        each from a different spot in your garden\n\n          * ·        each in a separate jar\n\n          * ·        each gathered from 10 cm below the surface\n\n          * ·        each labelled with your name and the place in your garden from which the sample was taken.\n\n          * ·        If you have not-quite-healthy-looking leaves bring a sample of them too: No guarantees that a solution be found but we will try. \n\n          * ·      \n\n          * ·       Bring something yummy for afternoon tea.\n\n          * ·       Tea and coffee provided.\n\n    \n\n    \n\n    \n\n    \n\n
