Permabee - Saturday 18 July – Mount Colah

  • 18 Jul 2020
  • 9:30 AM - 3:30 PM
  • Mount Colah

With restrictions easing we have decided to start back our permabees. Two years ago we helped Matt and Katerina transform their backyard lawn into a working permaculture garden. Since then the garden has hosted one of our Introduction to Permaculture courses and featured in the Sydney Edible Garden Trail.

At this Permabee we will be extending their edible garden and updating some of their garden features.

Planned activities for the day will include:

-        Learning about fruit tree trellises and chook runs

-        Clearing out a non-edible hedge and building a raised bed for a fruit tree trellis

-        Updating their chicken tunnel to make it more robust and dog-proof

-        Mulching branches and fallen leaves to add to the chook run

Come for a couple of hours or the whole day. We have plenty of activities for people with different skills. You don’t have to be Mr.Muscle to come and join us. You just need to have an appetite for learning, getting your hands dirty and having a laugh. You are also welcome to bring your children (provided you take responsibility for their supervision).

Space is limited to 12 spots, so register early and don’t miss out!

The permabee starts at 9:30 and it's important to be there on time if possible as the day will kick off with introductions, a project briefing and safety talk. WHAT TO BRING...

Lunch will be provided, but you can bring a plate of something to share for morning tea. You will need to bring your own mug for tea and coffee.

Please bring personal protection gear such as enclosed shoes/ boots, hat, gloves, sunscreen and a water bottle. For those helping with the mulching we also recommend you bring your own eye and ear protection.

For hygiene purposes you may wish to bring your hand sanitiser, own tools. Tools needed on the day include secateurs, mattocks, spades and saws.

The address will be provided once registration has been completed. The address is within the emailed confirmation, towards the bottom of the email.

Any questions, please contact the Garden Team - garden@permaculturenorth.org.au
