Zone Zero - The place of greatest potential, with Joel Mortimer

  • 16 Nov 2020
  • 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM
  • Zoom

As our interdependent human existence undergoes a period of profound change, join us for our final speaker event of the year, when Joel will share practical skills and tools we can use to bring out the best in ourselves.

In permaculture's zone framework, Zone 0 is the home, and this is where Joel broadens the definition to include our inner life and our interpersonal relationships.

Joel is experienced in mindfulness meditation and non-violent communication, and believes they have a crucial relevance to the principles and practice of permaculture. For Joel, the practices together form an interwoven framework for living a meaningful and fulfilled life.

Joel will share some basic theory and a group activity on mindfulness, the practice of non-judgemental present awareness. The relevance of mindfulness to permaculture practice will be explored throughout. Joel’s presentation will also cover the basic principles of non-violent communication, while discussing its many crossovers with social permaculture. Practical examples of how to enrich our interpersonal (and internal) relationships will be explored.
