NEW DATE: Hornsby eco-groups Clean Up Australia Day & picnic 9am to 11.30 am Sunday 3rd April Crosslands Reserve, Somerville Road, Hornsby Heights
Australia Marine Conservation Society (AMCS) is inviting Hornsby eco-groups and their friends and families to help clean up Crosslands Reserve and Berowra Creek on Clean Up Australia Day. Note that this event was rescheduled from March after the site flooded.
PSN members from other council areas are welcome!
Bring gloves, wellies and/or walking shoes and something that floats if you fancy getting out on the creek. Kids are welcome, but must be under supervision of their family members. Depending on numbers, we’ll split up and cover the Benowie track along the creek in both directions, the marsh area with the boardwalk, and the bushland around the reserve. Those with kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, etc, can cover the creek. Clean-up kits with bags, extra gloves, etc, are provided by AMCS. After the clean-up (1.5 to 2 hours) we’ll do a survey of the types of rubbish found and bag it up for waste collection. If the weather is kind to us, we’ll stay and have a picnic lunch – a great opportunity to meet people from other Hornsby groups with similar values. So pack your own food and bring the sunshine!
