WEAVING A MELON BASKET
Saturday 17th September 10.00am to 4.00pm
Mt Colah
Join the Living Skills Team in an exciting workshop, in a lovely permaculture garden, run by Sally Blackwell from "wastenotfibredesigns"
Spend a relaxing day learning the ancient art of basket weaving and create your very own melon basket from all natural materials. These baskets are common in many different cultures throughout the world, and involve creating two hoops (a handle and rim), adding ‘ribs’, and weaving from both ends of the basket into the middle. During the workshop, you will also learn all about the harvesting and preparation of natural materials.
Sally says "I'm a firm believer that everything has an inherent value and should not be wasted. I have been experimenting with natural fibres, grasses, vines, recycled materials and other materials found in my local environment to turn what might have been wasted into something useful and pleasing to the eye, hence Waste Not Fibre Designs. Each piece is unique, drawing from whatever comes to hand that sparks my imagination.
All materials are supplied.
This workshop is subsidised by PSN and members are only paying half the cost.
This is an all day workshop so please bring your own lunch, cutlery and cup and a plate of snacks to share with the group for afternoon tea. Tea and coffee is supplied.
