Our first permabee for the year will be at Filipa's interesting garden in North Turramurra to help get her frog pond up and running again, rejuvenate the vegepod, clear weeds and plant up a native habitat zone, and build a simple gabion wall. .
This is a great opportunity to see and learn how Filipa is creating her permaculture garden on a sloping bush block while welcoming abundant wildlife. Very interesting from the aspect analysis point of view. Lunch will be provided
.After the safety talk and a tour, we will
* Rejuvenate the vegepod - remove invasive mint, refresh potting mix and create a vermin proof mesh cover to keep the rats out.
*Fix the frog pond - replace the lining and place rocks around the edge and refill with water to welcome frogs and beneficial insects
* Remove weeds and plant up the native habitat zone to encourage small birds, reptiles and other critters
* Build a simple gabion wall by filling gabion baskets with small rocks and recycled bricks to create a flat space for the planned chook run
* Share a cuppa and lunch with other permies and take in the ambiance of the bush location.
