Seaweed delights by the beach
12:00 – 3:00pm Sunday 5 March 2023 Northern Beaches
Hi This is just a reminder. The weather is looking good -fine and a bit cloudy.
Ever been curious about seaweed? Do you know seaweed is excellent both for you and your garden? Do you know brown seaweed turns green when cooked? Seaweeds are the most highly mineralized vegetable on earth, accumulating and concentrating minerals directly from the ocean. It has iodine, calcium, iron, manganese, potassium, Vitamins A and C, protein, fibre, antioxidants, and helps regulate hormones.
We are having an excursion to the beautiful Northern Beaches for seaweed harvesting and a picnic.
Bring a basket or bucket or two to collect seaweed and maybe some wild greens, a small pocket knife, sunscreen, non-slip shoes that do not mind getting wet. Wear a hat - slip, slop, slap. Feel free to bring swim wear if you wish to swim. Also bring some seaweed recipes (food or fertiliser) if you have any.
Please allow about half an hour to find a free car park on the streets or car pool (eg. from Dee Why RSL carpark – which is about 10 mins walk to the beach).
