Monthly gathering: Sustainable Living: Act local - Impact global

7pm Monday 17th July

Lindfield Seniors Community Hall, 259 Pacific Hwy

How can we make impacts at a local level so we can contribute to a global change?  Come and gain practical guidance and insights on how to move towards a sustainable world. (Photo from Gardening Australia)

Our very resourceful member Tong Chen will give a talk on the Sustainable Living course she has successfully completed with the University of Tasmania.

At a time when food and living costs keep rising, how can we use our permaculture principles and hard work in the backyard to sustain our families?

The cooler months is a time to harvest and preserve our bountiful produce from the garden.

Plenty of Jerusalem artichokes and yakon? Well, bring them to the July meeting to share.

Tong will show us how to preserve Jerusalem artichoke, with simple ingredients like soy sauce and vinegar.

Come along and join in the fun! We will make jars of preserved Jerusalem artichokes for you to take home. FREE for members! You must register.

- Bring Jerusalem artichoke (if you have them) from your garden (must be washed and cleaned, unpeeled). Bring ginger and chilli if you have them too.

- Bring a knife and chopping board, and a jam jar with a lid.

You will learn how easy it is to preserve garden produce with tips from your fellow permies.

In addition, there will be the usual "trash and treasure" table, so bring your trash and be prepared to find some treasure! (Anything you bring, if not taken by the end of night, must go home with you.)
