Living Skills: Hungarian Cooking Workshop

Sunday 28th July, 11am - 2pm

Ryde

Join the living skills team for a Hungarian cooking workshop with Corinne and Cathy.

Cooking with a loved one and passing down recipes is a tradition in most cultures.  Corinne was fortunate enough to be taught by her late beloved mother-in-law, Katalina.  She was a fabulous cook who ran a delicatessen in South America and two Continental restaurants in Sydney.

The Blue Peacock was a Continental Coffee lounge which introduced Continental foods to the Western suburbs of Sydney and the other was a restaurant in Rozelle called The Talisman which served Continental cuisine.

During her lifetime Katalina shared a wealth of knowledge about her delicious homeland cuisine.

Recipes were rarely written down - it was as if her dishes were part of her soul.  Corinne would like to share these dishes with us to pay a great honour to her beloved Momika who always said “it’s not enough to read and follow a recipe… you must watch and then do while being watched to ensure you do it right!”

In this workshop Corinne will teach us how to cook four traditional Hungarian dishes:

             Csirke  Porkolt - Chicken Stew

         Gomba Porkolt – Mushroom Stew

         Uborka Salata – Cucumber salad

         Nokedli – Egg noodles

This cuisine should suit carnivores, flexitarians and vegetarians.

What to bring: Your own cup, plate & cutlery, something to drink and something to share for afternoon tea. And an apron.

This workshop is for PSN members only.
