Monthly gathering: Film festival & soup night
7pm Monday 17 June, Lindfield Seniors Community Hall

This month we'll be watching a set of short permaculture films from Happen Films while keeping ourselves warm with home made vegetable soups. Please bring your own bowl or large mug and a spoon!

We'll also meet Estelle from the Giant Steps community garden, at the school for autistic children at Gladesville. She makes jars of beautifully presented produce to raise money for the children. She will bring some, tell us her best tips, let us do some tasting and have some to sell.

Being the Change at 85 (13 min )
85-year-old Helen Dew shows the links between personal action and system change, and the importance of building community.

The City Food Commons (13 min)
Roimata Food Commons is an urban food forest initiative driven by Ōtautahi Christchurch local Michael Reynolds. The aim of the project is to empower the community to co-create space in a public park, reviving the notion of the Commons, which was once so common in societies around the world.

Together We Grow (38 min)
What do you get when you combine a community cafe, a community grocer and a community bike works? Plus a repair cafe, a sewing workshop, garden sharing, and a honey-making enterprise – Common Unity! This is a wonderful example of the importance of the community in tackling issues like social isolation and food insecurity, and building the social connections and social relationships so important to health and life.

Doors open at 6.30pm. Come early to check out the library and find a treasure on the reuse & recycle table. Tea and coffee will be served.

Guest are welcome and this is a free event.

Please register so we know how many people to feed!
