Pruning and grafting workshop

I.00-4.30pm, Dee Why I0 August 2024

Early August is a good time to prune your fruit trees and also an excellent time to graft new branches onto existing trees.  With grafting you can have two types of citrus, or two types of apples on one tree and save so much space.

We will start with a simple shared lunch together and talk about pruning and grafting while we eat. After a short talk on basic pruning techniques Stephanie will demonstrate how to graft the branch of one type of fruit tree onto another tree so that, (hopefully) the tree will produce both species of fruit the following year. The trees do need to be the same species e.g. two kinds of stone fruit or of citrus trees or apple trees. The prunings from one tree can be grafted onto other  trees.

So, bring something simple to share for lunch, and bring what pruning tools you have, as we will put into practice  our new pruning skills on Siew’s trees. (Brave woman!) There will be other tools available on site.

Please register so we can contact you if necessary.
