Monthly Gathering: Get a fix at Repair Cafe!
7pm Monday 16th September
Lindfield Seniors Centre, 259 Pacific Highway

This month we are excited to host some of the master fixers from Repair Cafe Sydney North, an initiative set up and run by PSN members.

This is a great opportunity to find out if you can glue your broken shoe, get your jeans re-hemmed, or find a replacement clasp for your favourite bracelet.

You can learn some tricks for fixing zips that don't require sewing and see how to darn a hole in a jumper.

We will begin the evening with Alasdair sharing his top tips on  repairing common household appliances, like toasters. (No, you don't need to be an electrician, but manufacturers do their best to stop you getting into the machines to fix them!)

Then we'll move onto repairs. There will be four repair tables set up for the event:

  1. Sewing – clothes, textiles
  2. Shoes, umbrellas and bags
  3. Sharpening – get your knives and garden clippers in good shape
  4. Jewellery – simple repairs only please, such as replacing clasps and jump rings, re-stringing beads, and glueing parts that have fallen off.

Please bring two items to repair. For sharpening, one item includes up to three knives or two secateurs. For example, you could bring some shoes to glue and three knives to sharpen, or some jeans to hem and two secateurs to sharpen. Please note, we cannot guarantee all repairs will get done as it depend on what turns up on the night.

While you wait your turn, you can watch and learn how repairs are done, chat to fellow permies, check out the library, or find a treasure on the reuse & recycle table – all while enjoying some supper.

Ku-ring-gai group will provide food, and tea and coffee will be served.

Doors open at 6.30pm. Guest are welcome and this is a free event, but please register so we know how many people to expect.
