Many urban permies have or aspire to their own house and productive garden on a spacious sunny block. But that may not be affordable, manageable or sustainable for everyone at all stages of life. What are the alternatives, challenges and opportunities as we are obliged to pay often eye-watering prices for increasingly dense housing in Sydney? How can we choose and use our homes to cultivate community and sharing of resources?

The conversation starter will be David Holmgren’s four-sector model: Family Castle, Communal Living, Adapt in Situ and Mobile Minimalism. Then maybe we can come up with some creative and practical solutions of our own.
