Monthly gathering: Creating a food forest (quickly)
7pm Monday 16th November, Lindfield Seniors Hall

With such a great climate in Sydney, there’s a real delight in creating a backyard (or even a front yard!) food forest.

This month's speaker, James Robertson from Fire Mountain Permaculture, will talk about how “syntropic” approaches – a form of regenerative agroforestry based in natural succession – can accelerate the creation of a new food forest from scratch, drawing from his own experiences.

Originally from Sydney's inner west, James did his Permaculture Design Course with Milkwood Permaculture in 2010 and began developing a permaculture lifestyle at his home in Lewisham. In 2017, he bought Fire Mountain Farm, a 22 hectare property nestled in the rainforest near Kangaroo Valley, south of Sydney, and began regenerating and transforming the land every second weekend. When the pandemic hit, he was locked down at the farm for six months and decided not to return to Sydney. James now lives full-time on the farm, dividing his time between his technology business and nurturing the land.

Doors open at 6.30pm. Come early to help set up, browse the library or find a treasure on the Reuse and Recycle table.

Stick around for a cuppa and a chat after the main event. Supper will be provided by the Lower North Shore (North Sydney, Lane Cover, Willoughby) & Ryde/Hunters Hill groups this month.

Please register so we know how many to expect.

Please bring any unwanted gifts to the meeting for the AGM & Christmas party prize pool!
