Permabee - 25 February 2018 - Ryde

In February we are off to visit Janna and James’ permaculture garden in Ryde!

James is one of our youngest member and at 8 years old he has managed to achieve 3rd place in the Childrens Garden category at the Ryde Council Garden Competition, encouragement award for the Edible Garden category and he has also managed to squeeze in an appearance on Better Homes and Garden in his spare time. James actually did the Intro to Permaculture Course while he was a baby! James clearly takes after his mum, Janna who is also an active permie, Janna has been a member of the PSN Management Committee and in between raising 2 boys, she single-handedly created and run the Abundant Living Foodclub, which has over 100 families across Sydney in the club!

The plan for this Permabee is as follows:

9:30 - Introductions, project briefing and safety talk. Projects we will be working on at this Permabee:

  • Project A- Grey water system set up from washing machine to fruit trees.
  • Project B - PVC Vertical garden near chook coop.
  • Project C - PVC Vertical garden for the front yard.

10.00 – Workshop on PVC Vertical Garden – benefits and how it works.

11.00 – Lunch (this will be provided).

2.30 - Afternoon Tea (bring your own to share - or not!).

4.00 – Wrap Up and debrief.

Come for a couple of hours or the whole day. We have plenty of activities for people with different skills. You don’t have to be Mr. Muscle to come and join us. You just need to have an appetite for learning, getting your hands dirty and having a laugh.

Space is limited to 20 spots, so register early and don’t miss out!
